 Some things I've been doing this month are:  
counting down to our family/ 5 year anniversary trip coming up! this picture is a little old, and it's getting closer all the time. Which also means it's almost fall!

 Working on some just for fun projects.. I finished the top of my first quilt, a patchwork in all different colors. I feel as if quilting might become one of my favorite things, and i'm excited to practice more and graduate to different shapes and patterns.

 I also started a new crochet blanket, and discovered i loove doing entrelac crochet. It's the kind where you can work on it while you watch a movie, and you don't have to think too much. Which I think is always nice.

We also celebrated Mike's birthday on the 21st. So happy birthday Mike! We went out for pizza pie, and then came home and ate apple pie. It was all about the pies.

happenings

It's me! 

 a few things going on around here lately:

It's spring! Ever since April started it's been warming up in Savannah.   I'm especially excited about this spring, because my family is coming to visit us at the end of the week! We try to do a family trip where my parents(and whoever else can make it) visit a different kid each year, and this year is Savannah's turn.  My dad has never been down here, and it will be fun to show them around. especially since they still have snow in MN!

 Crochet projects. I've been getting interested in tapestry crochet, and working on a little tutorial for a friend's blog.

 Always working on things in the apartment..here is a new work lamp so i won't go blind,
and Mike has been painting the kitchen white. He also made a new chalkboard to put up in there. Now I will always have a place to write out shopping and grocery lists, and i really like the schoolhouse green color.

 And..sewing. I always get in the mood to sew in the spring.
I got a whole bunch of black and white prints..i just can't help it.

lately

working on slippers to add to my shop,

trying out some dot tape i found at target the other day,

and getting ready to sew some fall clothes. i think these will turn into a striped shirt and a chevron dress

happy last day of september!

this and that

counting down the days to our family vacation in duluth next week! the whole family can make it this year,  yay!

summer walk

i've been sewing quite a lot this summer, and i thought i would start sharing some of my finished projects. (thanks for the interest to those who have asked!)

so, here is my new blue top,

here is mike with a happy fig,

and here is me with a gnat flying  into my face.

i used this pattern, with a couple of changes.  (leaving out the puffs on the sleeves, and making a gathered skirt instead of the one in the pattern)

i've made a few different versions of this guy.  i also love it as a dress, with short sleeves or sleeveless, and with or without the collar. oh so many options.

this past week we've been painting our apartment, and are mostly done. yay!  

mike just put our shelves back up, and i'm now deciding what to put where. 

and i also got a few plants. here's my new little cactus,

next on my list is to decide what to put on the walls, to paint a couple pieces of furniture, and i'd love to make a new bedspread and a throw blanket for the couch. 

and..

here are a couple pictures of the dress i made for my birthday dinner. it's made of blue brocade and is very party-ish and shiny. and also very reflective and safe for when you are crossing a busy street in the dark on your way back to your car after dinner.

memorial day weekend

last weekend we went to the farmers market, where we tried not to melt in the heat and got some really good cherry tomatoes.

 i wore my latest finished dress.

 made a caprese with avacado salad,

and baked some cookies from my back in the day bakery cookbook. they are the best ever.

the beach

on monday we went to the beach on tybee island. it's been hot here already, but at the beach it was cooler and windy.  i did my usual grandma thing; sat in my chair under my umbrella, all wrapped up in a towel so as not to catch a chill or get sunburnt, and read. while all the spring break kids ran around in their bikinis throwing frisbees and such.

i wore a new lavender dress i made. it's cotton and springy and swingy. i like it.

it was windy, resulting in a lot of pregnant dress billowing pictures. and then we also took the ever attractive jumping pictures.

it was a good day.
