yarn and book summer

making sweaters is my new favorite. here is my second sweater. the pattern is from this magazine. it turned out a little big, so i think i would use a lighter yarn next time.

i just finished reading I Capture the Castle, which was also on my summer reading list. and i loved it very much.

and then i watched the movie last night while i ate some shortbread. that seemed english to me. i like pretty movies. and i like romola garai, who played cassandra. so there you go.

lindsi the duck and lindsi the person

these are my sister stacia's new little duckies in kentucky. their names are barb, feathers, and lindsi. i am so proud to be the namesake of a duckling!

also last night after church,we went over to leopold's for pistachio and butter pecan icecream. and then up on the parking garage where we shoved in the icecream as fast as we could before it melted.

i'm a sweater maker

over the weekend i made this sweater. i was a little bit intimidated because i don't have a lot of sweater crocheting experience, but it turned out! i really like it, and the pattern was really simple to follow. now i want to make a hundred more.



also last week was the three year anniversary of when we started dating. (those still count!) and we went to a baseball game, and ate lots of hot dogs, and it was fun.

3rd of july

tonight we went to the river to see some third of july fireworks across from us on whitemarsh island.
we ate some sour gummy bears while we waited for it to get dark.

i like to sneak picture mike.

and while the fireworks were going off, a dolphin swam right by us! it was kind of frightening being that close to such a big swimming animal. but it was right in the glow of the fireworks and everything. how picturesque.

but i also quick pulled up my legs from dangling off the edge of the dock.

friday night

tonight we went out for burgers, and they make us happy like this!

i like it when my mom sends me stuff

today i got a jar of delicious homemade granola in the mail from my mom. i think i already ate half of it. mmmmmm.

then tonight we made fajitas and strawberry milkshakes and watched tv on the couch. i've also been watching lots of musicals lately, and lace crocheting. and staying up late reading. and it has been a million degrees out every day, so those have all been good ideas.

summer life

this is fig earlier today. she wanted to say hi.

right now she is hiding under the couch, because we evilly tried to cut her nails.

over the weekend we watched lots of old movies. doris day, ginger rogers, and the hitchcock rebecca which i really liked. and i ate some donuts. and then i sewed some curtains and painted some side tables that i had been putting off forever.

also another thing i have been working on is some music. i've always wanted to write and record my own music. mike and i are both writing things together and separately, and i'm excited to see what comes out!
